Proactive network strategies

Quality of Service (QoS) strategies in Tixeo's solutions are proactive. They don't just reduce the stream's bandwidth when a network congestion occurs, as at that time it is already too late.

By probing and analyzing on the client and server side both upload & download bandwidth usage in real time, Tixeo's QoS anticipates theses congestions before they happen. It leads to an adaptation of the streams, before the network comes to a saturation, to avoid any cuts.

Streams prioritization

Tixeo believes streams (audio, video, application sharing, file sharing...) don't all have the same importance over a video conference. For a great meeting experience, audio and video communications are a key to success. This is why Tixeo always prioritizes voice and video communications over any other kind of transmission, with a top-priority for audio streams.

Different kinds of streams adaptation

Along this prioritization, each kind of transmission fits differently to bandwidth variations. A file exchange will simply lower the transfer speed, whereas a desktop or application sharing will decrease its refresh rate. At last, video streams will take advantage of some scalable video encoding patterns within the QoS.

Video scalability

Each video stream embed several refinement layers. Video quality and smoothness are optimal when network conditions are good, providing a first-class videoconferencing experience. Depending on real-time network capacity analysis, the system will choose the most fitted refinement layer to have the best video quality.
