As part of a collaboration with CNES (Centre National d’Etudes Spatiales) and its CESARS center (Centre d’expertise et de support pour les usages en télécommunications par satellite), Tixeo was able to test its videoconferencing technology using space telecommunication tools provided by CNES. This series of tests, conducted in real conditions, allowed to evaluate Tixeo’s solution using different types of internet connections.

Video conferencing satellite

The objective of such an experimentation is to check the possibilities of using Tixeo videoconferencing in the context of a communication flow transfer via satellite. These tests focused on the user experience in order to address the issue of communications in white zones, those areas where traditional communication means (4G, ADSL, etc.) are not available.

It was essential for Tixeo to have a visibility on the possibilities of using its solution in such conditions: there are indeed multiple use cases for satellite internet access :

  • Crisis and emergency management : in case of intervention in areas not covered by 4G, emergency services can use Tixeo video conferencing via a satellite connection to be in contact with hospitals, or transmit live information to the Operational Center;
  • Telemedicine : a patient in a remote area can use teleconsultation services via satellite. Similarly, a doctor in a remote area can perform tele-expertise;
  • Teleworking : even outside urban areas well served by terrestrial networks, satellite Internet access allows a teleworker to stay in touch with colleagues.

Tixeo videoconferencing available anywhere

In all these situations that require a perfect communication quality, tests have shown that the Tixeo solution works well. Videoconferences could be conducted whatever the conditions offered by the satellite network. Tixeo is perfectly suited for this kind of use despite the latency inherent to the satellite internet connection. Video conferencing satellite can be possible at this point.

Its SVC on Demand technology takes into account network quality and guarantees stable communications and collaborative features (screen and application sharing, file transfer, instant messaging…). With Tixeo, it is possible to conduct a quality video conference anywhere.

Video conferencing satellite: about CESARS

CESARS is the center of expertise and support for satellite telecommunications uses. Located at the CNES (Centre National d’Etudes Spatiales) in Toulouse, it aims to help companies discover satellite telecommunications technologies.

Thanks to its experts and its important technical means, CESARS accompanies industrialists, SMEs, large groups, and research laboratories, to imagine solutions answering their communication problems by using the satellite and to test them in real conditions.
