Portrait of Élodie, Office Manager at Tixeo

Elodie

At the heart of the company’s administrative and financial life, Élodie is more than just comfortable with figures. Thanks to her professional experience, she progressed quickly and seized a great opportunity at Tixeo.

Never a dull moment in her job!

Élodie, Office Manager at Tixeo

Originally from Jonquières, a stone’s throw from Tixeo’s head office, Élodie joined Tixeo in September 2020. “When I arrived, the company was going through a huge upheaval with the health crisis and was growing very fast. My first task was to improve support for employees and the management of customer invoicing”. It was a first glimpse of daily life as Office Manager, a role that covers a range of tasks relating to the life of the company, particularly financial and accounting matters, but also human resources in our representative offices in Spain and Belgium. “In short, I take care of everything that comes into the company, and everything that goes out!” she sums up.

For four years now, Élodie has moved between different tasks that give her both an overall and a detailed view of the company’s internal and external activity. This varied role echoes her previous experience.

Versatility, a must

In the final year of her executive assistant diploma in Montpellier, the Hérault native was hired by the company where she was doing her work-study placement, in the hinterland where she grew up. An executive assistant, but not only that: Élodie turned her hand to everything and even became an inside sales representative: “ in the end, it’s not so different, everything is connected. I was able to understand how an SME works, from both the employer’s and the employee’s side. It made me very versatile”. After more than 13 years climbing the ladder, she moved into the construction sector for three years, but the company went bankrupt.

At that point, Élodie decided to refocus on her family life and the arrival of her younger daughter. She was starting a skills assessment to get back into work when the health crisis brought everything to a halt, and the Tixeo opportunity came along: “it all happened very naturally. I wanted to help this company reach the next stage. A number of things needed a proper framework. Today, we have evolved as the company has grown ”. When she tells people that she works from home every day, most of them are taken aback. Yet Élodie insists that this is no ordinary remote working.

Working from home and finding a better balance

Tixeo

With Tixeo, Élodie discovered a new take on remote working, both close to and far from her colleagues. “For me, it’s as if I were in the office. The social side is different, but we’re always interacting with colleagues thanks to video”. At the quarterly seminar, Élodie also rediscovers her colleagues’ personalities: “it’s funny to meet people in real life when you usually see them through a screen! You get to know each other differently, and that’s essential for team cohesion.” Surrounded by male colleagues, Élodie admits that she would very much like more women to join the workforce, even if it isn’t so simple in the new technology sector: “I think it would be good for the teams and the company. It would bring another important perspective”.

Autonomy and better time management are two other aspects of remote working that she particularly likes, having known the flexible daily routine of a sales representative. All the more so as she can now free up time for an important choice she has made: spending more time with her two children. “It’s really nice to have this flexibility and comfort at work, especially when you have a family”.

/ A typical day at Tixeo

“When I arrive, I sort my emails and talk to Cécile, my colleague, about current matters. Then I list my tasks by priority. What I like is that my days are never repetitive and there is a lot of variety. For example, I recently launched internal training sessions for employees, and now I’m moving on to another subject. Other tasks come round more regularly, such as those related to HR and accounting.”

/ If she had to sum up what makes her role special…

“The company operates in a sensitive sector, with external partners and strategic customers. Particular rigour is required, especially in administrative and financial management and in the security of processes.”
